About Wycherleys Cheese
Wycherleys Cheese was created from the demise of Wycherleys Fine Foods of Newport. Unfortunately due to trading conditions and ever increasing costs we had to close the business. We have now, since October 2011 have resurrected the cheese business and are now trading from local markets, still sourcing over 80% of our cheeses locally, Stafford, Ecceshall, Newport, Whitchurch and Shrewsbury to name a few.
Wycherleys philosophy still remains, we resource and buy the best of local producers and offer it to the public at a cost effective price.
By supporting local producers and becoming a retail outlet for their produce we aim to promote some of the best produced cheeses, not only in the UK but the world. Supermarkets may give the impression that they are supporting local producers by stocking several locally produced items, but in fact because of most supermarkets central buying policies, it could mean that some farmers/producers are having to compromise on quality in order to increase their production levels to meet supermarket demand. This might suit some of the bigger local producers, but certainly not the small bespoke producer.
By “Local” we mean producers of fine high quality food products that are located inShropshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands. We aim to keep our “carbon footprint” down for local products to a maximum of 50 miles radius.

It is Wycherleys policy to try and not compete with the Supermarkets but offer things they can't get.
That is not to say we can't get a cheese just because it is in a supermarket, we can get any British or European Cheese either as a full Cheese or just a wedge, but it will be better.
Wycherleys want to give the small local producer a fair price for their quality products and a platform in which they can promote and sell to a wider audience.
